Training at OCJJ was humbling.
After rolling with a few higher level belts, I've learned
that that there is still much to be learned.

A few key points that I took from today was that:

1. In top position, control the guys chin (head) for optimal
control. For ex, when passing someone's half guard, it
makes it a lot easier if you immobilize their head.

2. Also- When in north south position keypoint #1 also plays
into much effect. Setting up the choke should be followed
only after a secure position is applied.

3. A weird variation of a sweep. In fact, I was in position
ready to apply an anaconda choke, when the blue belt that I
was rolling with quickly tucked my arm under his ribs and
rolled, and then recovered side control. Amazing sweep-
never seen that one before.

*Still at the point where I don't have insurance, so tapping
quickly is essential at this stage

Today's class was pretty uneventful.
Rolled with a few guys-
a new guy I've never seen before and Chimoko,
I could tell that the new guy had rolled before, due to his movements and bodily control,
but at the same time- he seemed a little rusty. I played guard with him tucking both elbows into my thighs
and it was a battle to control the arms.
I ended up reversing him and landing in his guard when Roger called time.

When I rolled with Chimoko- He felt a lot stronger.
Even by looking at the guy, I could tell he was bigger. Controlling him this time was a little harder than the last
time that I rolled with him. I almost landed the triangle, but as he sensed it coming, he quickly ducked his head out of the way
and we landed with me in an almost reverse armbar position on top.

*tip of the day*
When attempting a triangle, try to control the guy's chin so that you can get better position of your leg to secure it.

Today was OK as a BJJ day.
Learned a few things, was able to sweep Randy, and got my 4th stripe today.

**The Key Points that I took from today's lesson were:

1. After sweeping Randy, made the mistake of basing out with two hands and waiting for opponent to get out of it.
**When sweeping someone, especially someone @ higher level, immediately secure position by hooking an arm under the head and basing out with the other one,**

2. When armbarred from me being on top position, I immediately backed off and tried to pull him off.
** when you feel the arm bar coming, immediately stack the opponent and get as close as possible so that the arm is not extended

3. Got knee-barred
** when feeling the opponent going for a leg submission, try to take the back or make a desperate attempt in order to at the minimum, distract the opponent from following through and allowing yourself to get into a better position.

4. I let the opponent get a hold of my legs too quickly
** Roger pointed out to me that as soon as I feel my opponent grab my pant legs, immediately grab his hand with mine and kick my leg out of that position. That way I can secure a more dominant position and won't end in side control

5. Attempted a sloppy guard pass
** Brian gave me a tip as he noticed that when I'm on top, my guard passes were a little sloppy. Base one knee on the ground and extend the other leg fully to get a more powerful postion.

** Key tip of the day- Go in with more confidence. I probably missed a few submission opportunities by playing the defensive game over offensive and passed on some opportunities. Self-talk, etc to go harder.
